Hypocrisy faith: is only on stage
S) In Matthew 23: 27-28 Jesus tells the scribes and Pharisees they are like white washed tombs. Clean on the outside, but have dead-man’s bones on the inside.
F) Verse 28 is the focus of faith. Faith is not only lived out on stage, in messages or our servanthood. Faith is also on the inside. Faith is also where we are alone. Faith is.
P) Pray for faith in all areas of your life, more than at church, and pray you do not have hypocrite-faith.
A DC talk song (What if I Stumble) starts with a statement:
“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today
Is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips
Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle.
That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”
That has stuck with me for years. I thought about that often thinking how many times has my Christian walk potentially confused others or lead them astray or slowed them down. When you leave church, finish your bible reading, stop listening to worship music don’t “walk out the door and deny Jesus by your lifestyle.” Know that you are not alone in this walk. Even though we leave the church the building, we are still the Church. God goes with you, actually, He is there before you are! Make the choice today to be true to God.
