Faith: We Already Know What We Need
S) In Matthew 25: 1-13 Jesus tells the parable of the ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom. The foolish did not bring extra oil for their lamps, so they had to go buy some. Therefore, they were not allowed into the wedding.
F) We already know what we need to be found faithful. We just need to do it. There will not be time to do it when the Lord returns.
P) Pray to be found ready on the day of Jesus’ return. Pray that you do not slack in this area.
Knowing Jesus is coming back is not enough. Even the demons believe in God, but they do not put their faith in Jesus. To be found ready with plenty of oil for your lamps means you need to put your eternal faith into Jesus. If you are living thinking that you will be able to accept Jesus when the time comes then need to receive Him as Lord and Savior today. In your words admit you are a sinner, repent of your sins, and admit that Jesus died for you. After that you can start to live your life knowing you have plenty of oil for your lamp.
This speaks of Jesus’ return where no one knows the day or hour; read Matthew 24:36. You can read books, listen to podcasts, attend church, and many more things. However, you still need to put your faith in Jesus. While waiting read His word, fellowship with believers, and find a church where you can be taught the word of God. Try not to think of this time as waiting in the lobby for the dentist. The time we have between now and us being in heaven is valuable, exciting, fun, a journey, full of fellowship, requires wisdom, and learning; there is more to it, but I think you get the point.
